Local startup operators have pinpointed 15 key venues in Copenhagen for founders and investors to meet, as the city prepares for its 14th annual TechBBQ conference. The list, compiled with help from people at Corti, Good Tape, Palette, and Light, covers coworking spaces, cafes, eateries, bars, and a notable supermarket hack.
The Coworking Hub
Matrikel1 on Højbro Plads serves as a central community hub for startups. Part of the Mesh Community, this coworking space and cafe is a frequent venue for local events, including side events for the TechBBQ conference.
Cafes for Work and Meetings
Several cafes are recommended for meetings or remote work. Prolog Coffee Bar in the Meatpacking District is noted for its pour-over coffee. Juno the Bakery on Århusgade is famous for its cardamom buns, though queues are common. Its pastries are also reportedly available at Prolog.
Roast Coffee on Vestmannagade is cited as a top spot for coffee on the developed Islands Brygge waterfront. For discreet work, Lille Petra in a hidden city-centre courtyard offers a quiet retreat. La Cabra, located within a clothing store on Møntergade, provides great coffee and is near Kongens Have park for walk-and-talks. It also has a spacious, calm second location in Nordhavn.

Bars for Drinks and Deals
Palæ Bar on Ny Adelgade is a classic spot where patrons can grab a Carlsberg among a mix of pensioners and twenty-somethings. Victory, a penthouse bar on the 8th floor at Papirøen 25, offers martinis and views for discussing a Series B round.
Bambi in the Meatpacking District, near Prolog Coffee, serves natural wine and cocktails and is noted for people-watching. Bootleggers on Njalsgade is a cosy craft beer bar with exposed brick and dim lighting, though its prices are described as a premium.
For those on a tight budget, Føtex City at Krøyers Plads sells cold beer at a fraction of nearby food stall prices. Sources say you can get about five beers for 100 DKK (around €13), which is considered insanely cheap for Copenhagen.
Walking It Off
The three interconnected lakes, known as The Lakes, provide a route for mobile meetings or walking off food and drink. A full walk around them is said to take about 90 minutes.
