Amsterdam-based AI-native financial services company Neno has raised €6.6 million in seed funding. The round, led by New York venture fund AlleyCorp, closed in August 2026 and will fuel technology development and a European market push.

Launched in Q1 2026, Neno targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It combines accounting, tax, and financial administration on one platform. The company has attracted nearly 200 customers since its inception.

The market is substantial. Over half of Europe's 26 million SMEs outsource accounting, payroll, and tax work. This creates an industry worth approximately €200 billion annually.

Neno identifies two core problems. Fragmented workflows across banking, accounting, tax, and payroll hinder access to contextual financial information. A shortage of accounting professionals further strains the traditional service model.

The AI-Native Workspace

To solve these issues, Neno built an AI-native workspace centered on a real-time agentic general ledger (AGL). This system aggregates data from business bank accounts, corporate cards, bill payments, and receivables. It forms a single system of record, providing contextualised information to accountants.

The platform automates processes like reconciliation and VAT preparation. Neno claims its technology completes these tasks up to five times faster. Customers reportedly save an average of eight hours of admin work monthly and about 20% on annual accounting fees.

"Instead of business owners coordinating between banks, bookkeepers, and tax advisors, we deliver a single ‘done-for-you’ state of work," explained founder and CEO Nick Knuppe. "Reconciliation, compliance, and reporting happen automatically in the background."

Augmenting Accountants, Not Replacing Them

The company's stated goal is to augment, not replace, human accountants. Its infrastructure aims to give accountants a more complete view of customer transactions. It automates administrative processes that were previously manual.

"We do not replace accountants, but we expand their capacity," said Knuppe. "This enables a single Neno accountant to manage hundreds of customers instead of the traditional thirty, without compromising on advisory quality."

Use of Funds and Future Plans

The new capital will launch Neno Labs, a research and development division focused on Ambient AI. Neno will also grow its accounting, tax services, and go-to-market teams. Preparations are underway for an expansion into additional European markets in 2027.

The seed round saw participation from Motive Partners and Firstminute Capital. A group of angel investors also joined, including executives from Hugging Face, Mollie, Juni, Deel, Miro, Coinbase, PayPal, and Navro.
