Nvidia's RTX Spark superchip is now powering the first wave of AI-focused PCs, with initial models showed at the IFA 2026 tech show in Berlin. These systems, including laptops and mini desktops, are engineered to meet rising demand for running agentic AI workflows like OpenClaw directly on a user's computer.

Hands-On with the Lenovo Yoga 9n

The first device examined was the Lenovo Yoga 9n 2-in-1, a 16-inch laptop with a 360-degree hinge. It features a premium design with rounded metallic edges and thin bezels, positioning it as a competitor to the MacBook Pro. Its OLED touch display has a 2880 x 1800 resolution and a 120-Hz refresh rate. High-end additions include a six-speaker sound system and a 9.2-megapixel webcam.

The laptop's slim 0.69-inch profile is enabled by Nvidia's Arm-based RTX Spark chip. This system-on-a-chip combines a Grace CPU with up to 20 cores and a Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 cores. WIRED's analysis suggests the integrated GPU's core count theoretically places its capability between a current laptop RTX 5070 Ti and an RTX 5080. The report notes the chip's design shares more with Apple silicon than traditional Windows laptop architecture, potentially offering greater efficiency and battery life, though no specific battery claims were provided.

A Broader Lineup of AI Laptops

Lenovo is also offering a 15-inch Yoga Pro 9n model, which shares many features with its larger sibling but has a thinner 0.66-inch chassis and a 2560 x 1600 OLED screen. A unique feature is its Force Pad touchpad, which supports stylus input. The report highlighted a difference in maximum memory configuration: the Yoga 9n 2-in-1 tops out at 64 GB, while the Yoga Pro 9n can be configured with up to 128 GB, which may define its "Pro"status. These Lenovo devices are part of a broader fall lineup of RTX Spark laptops."petaflop of AI performance" and support for up to 128 GB of memory. Their announcement follows closely on the heels of Apple's new M6 Mac mini and M5 Ultra Mac Studio, highlighting the growing role of compact, efficient desktops in local AI adoption.

Nvidia is not the sole provider of such hardware. Lenovo also announced an AMD-powered system, the ThinkCentre X Ultra. It pairs 128 GB of memory with AMD's Ryzen Max+ Pro 495 chip, another processor used for local AI tasks. The expected starting price for this system is $3,699, which the report indicates is for a base model, not the maximum 128 GB configuration. This price point shows the high cost of these AI-capable systems.

A comparison of starting prices and memory for high-end AI and creator systems mentioned in the report is shown below.

SystemStarting PriceBase Memory
MacBook Pro (M5 Pro)$2,34924 GB
Lenovo ThinkCentre X Ultra (base)$3,699Not specified
MacBook Pro (128 GB config)$6,139128 GB

The report from WIRED concludes that price remains a important unknown for RTX Spark systems, noting that RAM is both expensive and necessary for these AI workloads. The hardware aims to enable capable on-device AI model execution, reducing cloud dependence and addressing privacy concerns for workflows handling sensitive personal data.
