MintNeuro secures $5 million to scale neural interface chips

MintNeuro has raised $5 million in funding to commercialize its specialized semiconductor platform for neural devices, aiming to become the standard chip layer for brain-computer interfaces and bioelectronic medicine.

MintNeuro has raised $5 million in funding to commercialize its specialized semiconductor platform for neural devices...

MintNeuro raised $5 million in a funding round announced on October 7, 2026. The investment was led by Odyssey Ventures, with participation from a mix of European and US investors including 33East, JSK Investments, Alumni Ventures, Empirical Ventures, and Jumpspace Ventures. First-round investors also returned for this round.

Michelle Robson, Founding Partner at Odyssey Ventures, led the latest investment. The funding marks a transition from technology validation to commercial scale-up for the semiconductor company.

Funds to accelerate product launch and expand US presence

MintNeuro will use the investment to grow its engineering and commercial teams. The funds will accelerate product launches and expand delivery of pre-release silicon to partners. A key goal is to strengthen the company's presence in the United States, building alongside its established UK and European base. This move supports broader customer adoption and international expansion.

MintNeuro’s platform addresses critical gaps in neural device development

The company builds specialized chips for neural devices, from implants to wearables. Its modular semiconductor platform provides neural sensing, signal processing, and stimulation functions. This integration enables smaller, lower-power devices. It also allows for more sophisticated closed-loop interfaces with the nervous system.

Industry progress has been held back by a lack of standard chips designed for the extreme demands of neural devices. Developers face a trade-off. They can use generic components not designed for the human body, or they can embark on years of expensive custom chip development. MintNeuro aims to eliminate this trade-off with its purpose-built platform. The architecture combines functions efficiently at the system level. It offers better performance than generic parts, with less risk and a faster route to market than a full custom design. The immediate focus is on medical applications where size, power, reliability, and safety are critical.

Technology validated through partnerships and partner integrations

MintNeuro has delivered working silicon and reached key integration milestones with research and development partners. A growing number of neural device companies are now evaluating or integrating the technology.

Earlier in 2026, MintNeuro announced a multi-year commercial chip supply agreement with Motif Neurotech. This partnership supports Motif's development of a minimally invasive neurostimulator for treatment-resistant depression. The company has also reached milestones with UK-based partner Amber Therapeutics. Research teams are building various implantable systems that connect directly to the brain and nervous system using these chips.

These neural devices include brain-computer interfaces, neuromodulation systems, sensory prostheses, and bioelectronic medicines. They target conditions like Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, depression, and hearing loss.

Vision to become the standard chip platform for neurotechnology

MintNeuro was founded as a spinout from Imperial College London. It originated in the Next Generation Neural Interfaces Lab, led by Professor Tim Constandinou. Dr. Dorian Haci, a PhD student at the time, co-founded the company with Constandinou in 2022 after developing the business case through Imperial's MedTech SuperConnector accelerator.

Dorian Haci, now Co-Founder and CEO, stated the funding enables a shift to commercial scale-up. Professor Tim Denison, Chair of MintNeuro and a specialist at the University of Oxford, oversees its direction. The company's long-term vision is expansive. Haci said: "Our ambition is clear: to make MintNeuro the semiconductor platform the global neurotechnology industry builds on."

The company aims to power the next generation of human-machine connecting technologies. With neurological conditions affecting over a billion people worldwide, neural implants are seen as a promising avenue for long-term treatment solutions. MintNeuro will use the investment to grow its teams, bring products to market, support customer adoption, and strengthen its US presence alongside its UK and European base.
