Stability AI Raises $76M from Sony, Warner
Stability AI, the London-founded AI startup behind Stable Diffusion, raised $76 million in a Series B round. The funding, led by Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Electronic Arts, also saw investment from AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures.

Funding Details
Stability AI, the London-founded AI startup behind the Stable Diffusion model, announced a $76 million Series B round on 25 August 2026. The round brings the company’s total funding to $232 million, including two equity rounds and convertible notes, under CEO Prem Akkaraju who took the helm in June 2024.
Investor Portfolio
New investors in the Series B include Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Electronic Arts. Existing backers such as Coatue, Greycroft, AMD Ventures, Pacific Alliance Ventures, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and Napster co-founder Sean Parker also participated. Sean Parker sits on Stability AI’s board, as does Titanic director James Cameron.
The investment follows recent deals with Warner and Electronic Arts to build new AI models that leverage their catalogues and intellectual property. It also follows the release earlier this year of a model capable of producing professional-grade music longer than six minutes.
Strategic Focus
Stability AI now bills itself as “the leader in purpose-built AI products for professional creatives across music, gaming and entertainment.” The company has closed its London office and shifted its focus to the United States, opening a new office in Los Angeles. The capital will be used to fund creative production and research, as detailed in its stats and squad updates.
Leadership and Future Plans
Prem Akkaraju said, “Our investors set us up for long-term success because they provide not only capital, but expertise, credibility, and direct connection to artists.” The move to the U.S. is reflected in its new standings across the industry, positioning Stability AI to collaborate more closely with major entertainment and music companies.
The company’s strategy includes leveraging the expertise of its new partners to develop AI models that can generate high-quality creative content for music, gaming, and film. With the backing of industry giants, Stability AI aims to accelerate its product roadmap and expand its presence in the U.S. market.
The announcement was reported by Tech.eu, which highlighted the significance of the investment for the AI-driven creative sector. The partnership with Sony, Warner, and Electronic Arts signals a growing trend of traditional media companies investing in AI to enhance content creation.
The funding round also underscores the increasing interest from technology and entertainment firms in AI tools that can streamline production workflows and unlock new creative possibilities. Stability AI’s focus on professional creatives aligns with broader industry efforts to integrate AI into mainstream production pipelines.
The company’s board, featuring high-profile figures such as Sean Parker and James Cameron, reflects a blend of tech and creative expertise aimed at guiding the company’s next phase of growth.
The Series B round demonstrates a continued trend of significant capital inflows into AI startups that serve the entertainment sector, with major players like Sony and Warner taking a direct stake in the technology that could shape future media production.
The announcement concludes with a statement that the new capital will enable Stability AI to pursue its vision of becoming a central hub for AI-powered creative tools, fostering collaboration between artists, developers, and industry leaders.
